September is undoubtedly a really busy time of the year for most people. Kids and teenagers are going back to school, college or university. A blogger, like myself, is looking towards interior designs busiest period of the year. So there’s a good chance that many people are going to be wanting to create an office space or updating the one they currently have.
I think choosing pieces for an office can be quite hard if I’m honest. There are a lot of collections out there that are solely focused on a specific age range – which is fine if say your little ones have their own homework area. But like many families, you’ll be often sharing an office space and therefore wanting to create a look that suits everyone. Anthropologies’ new AW17 homeware collection I think ticks that box. There’s such a luxe Parisian feel to it but features enough colour and fun that it’ll suit the young ones, teenagers as well as adults.
In this blog post, I have included my favourite picks including Instagram worthy stationery and diaries as well as bespoke looking accessories and vignette pieces which have multiple uses.
OFFICE: INVESTMENT V. BUDGET
By choosing the right accessories, you can really transform an office space. If you invest a little more into items that look handmade or bespoke, you’ll find that they will never go off trend. Some people will choose this investment piece via the desk they purchase or a vintage shelving unit. But if your budget doesn’t allow this and you are buying say, IKEA furniture, you are going to want accessories that look stylish as well as add some personality.
For example, Anthropologie is a high street store that sells items at a low/middle price point. Their candles may be £28-£36 but they are made with beautiful ceramic patterns or embossed metal designs ideal to be used as storage pots after the candle has burnt out. Double the use. You would probably buy a candle from a more reasonably priced high street retailer for £10 and then a further £15-£20 for a pot that’s no where near as pretty.
I really am a firm believer in affordable homewares. But for me, affordable doesn’t always mean £1 candles from Primark or an item from IKEA that everyone has. Some times you need to pay a little extra, yet still affordable! for beautiful items which you can keep and style throughout the years.
CUP OF BREW
And there was no way I was going to forget to include an Autumn Winter essential such as the mug to enjoy your favourite brew in. If you are looking for a unique bespoke looking mug, then I think Anthropologie’s Mimira and Yesteryear mugs are perfect. You could easily be fooled into thinking that these mugs were handmade and from a luxury homeware store. But that they aint. At £14 each, they would make a gorgeous present or look beautiful styled on your kitchen shelves.
So what do you think, are you an Anthropologie fan? Do you like this collection? I’d love to know what items you purchase and style to add personality to an office space.
