Sofa.com recently invited me to their press event at their new London Bankside store SE1, and trust me when I say that their showroom is amazing. Their new store is not far from the River Thames and the Tate Modern and definitely worth a visit. The architecture of the space is striking as its nestled within the historic railway arches on Burrell Street featuring beautifully high ceilings, exposed brick and industrial appearance. An interior designers dream!
Bankside is sofa.com’s fifth UK showroom and their third site in London.
There are over 50 sofa.com designs to choose from which range from chesterfields, modular pieces, corner suites and sofa beds as well as beds and accessories.
And if that wasn’t enough choice there are also over 160 fabrics! So the lovely guys at sofa.com offer you 8 free samples to take away with you which I think is super helpful. My favourite fabrics are definitely Victorian Geometric, Emerald Velvet, Domino, Prussian Blue, Blush, Palm Trellis on Velvet and Owls on Linen.
As soon as I walked into the store, a few key pieces caught my eye straight away and without knowing, there were all designed by the extremely talented design duo Barneby Gates, Vanessa Barneby and Alice Gates. In my opinion this is the most successful sofa.com collaboration to date.
Barneby Gates designs are gorgeous, striking and innovative. If you haven’t already, check out their website!! The duo also sat down with Sofa.com and were interviewed about their collaboration which you can also read here. So if you want a unique piece of furniture and love patterns, this collaboration may be the answer to your prayers! I am absolutely lusting after the occasional sofa below which is in the Palm Trellis Velvet fabric.
Also new for AW16 is the Penelope occasion chair. The design looks really luxurious and if you went for a plush velvet, you would create an opulent and bold statement. WANT!
Sofa.com also provide some brilliant customer service and really thought driven personal touches. Customised children’s area? Friendly bar area? Yep, why you walk around sofa.com’s showrooms you can leave your children in the bespoke kids corner where they have plenty to keep them occupied (in the Chelsea store they even have a dedicated kids professional that will look after your children for your duration of your stay). And in each showroom there is a bar where sipping your favourite alcoholic beverage will make purchasing your new sofa that little bit easier.
The space is amazing, the architecture is beautiful and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. I want to say a big thank you to Sam from the Bankside showroom who kindly gave me a guided tour of everything.
If you do not have a sofa.com showroom near you, do not despair! All of the above sofas and many many more are online at sofa.com.
Now I need to choose between the 2 seater Zeppelin sofa in the Palm Trellis Velvet fabric or the Bingley 2 seater in the Emerald Velvet. There’s too much choice!!
Let me know what your favourites are?…
